This was the TINIEST wedding I’ve ever shot! Lori and Richard had a few friends, parents and their kids and kept it REAL simple. They just walked down to the beach and just found the best spot, and got married. Then we had one of the most beautiful sunsets to shoot their portraits, followed by dinner at a very fun Italian restaurant. Here’s a slideshow, followed by a few of my favorite photos from the evening.
Luralyn and Jordan – Vermillion, South Dakota
Luralyn and I have been friends since my days at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and we worked together often as student leaders in SLO Crusade. When she told me she was engaged to Jordan, I was super excited for her, but I never imagined I’d be flown out to Vermillion, South Dakota to photograph her wedding! South Dakota was cornfield after soybean field after cornfield, and I really appreciated their simpler approach to life. I have never seen a reception so excited to do the chicken dance and the Hokey Pokey, you would have thought there was a big sum of money to the person who got into it the most. Their guests were a hoot and a holler and I made some new friends along the way.
Anyway, Jordan and Luralyn are now happily married, and I have the photos to prove it.

How is it that a black and white image technically contains less information than it’s color counterpart? Black and white speaks to the soul…
Her first look at herself…
First look at each other – so genuinely in love.
One of my favorite altar faces ever.
Father of the groom didn’t let his uniform keep him from letting a few tears out.
I’m glad no children were trampled when I was running backward to get this shot!
At the University of South Dakota – Vermillion.
Rose Garden? Yes, please.
She tried to steal the show…
This is why I love taking a 10 minute sunset portrait session during the reception.
Thanks everyone for all your help in getting me shuttled around and feeling welcomed. I hope to visit again soon!
Daisy and Damon – Hollywood Glamour
Daisy and Damon are quite the characters! When she described her event she needed photograph, she had me at “birdcage veil”. Usually “reception only” events are not of this caliber. It was truly a treat to spend an evening under the stars in the heart of LA. As you can see in the photos, this was a classy event with all the glitz and glam of the golden years of hollywood. Enjoy the photos.
But first, there’s a slideshow (turn up your speakers)…
This guy had the whole routine down. We won’t tell anyone it was just water in that glass.
Even her smile is classic. It’s a horrible tragedy she was born 60 years too late.
This was a striking coincidence.
I used to make panoramic photos all the time before I became a professional, I forgot how cool it can be. This is stiched from 6 vertical photos.
Here’s the view toward LA City Hall off of one of the balconies.
Can you spot her hat in this photo?
Thank you for including us in your special day! What a treat.
Mike and Sarah – Wedding in Dayton, Ohio
I’ve known Mike since we spent the summer together in Newport Beach in 2003 with Campus Crusade. He has always been an inspiration to me in his art, and how anything can be a canvas, especially napkins. I was flown out to Dayton, OH for this wedding, and I really enjoyed everything about this couple and their wedding.

Now, onto some of my favorites…
Mini-wedding…
First. Kiss. Ever.
I love these midwest churches!
Cornfields are everywhere here!
